Paleo Nutrition Wales Review

While I love to live a hunter-gatherer lifestyle I tend to leave the real hunting to the guys who know what they’re doing. Paleo Nutrition Wales is a father and son team that supply grass-fed beef and outdoor reared poultry direct to your door. We recently bought their “Hunter Gatherer” meat pack. Check out the review to see what we thought.

Paleo Wales

We’re always on the lookout for good sources of grass-fed beef. While it’s great to visit local producers and farm shops, sometimes it’s more convenient to order online and have your food delivered. At Paleo Nutrition Wales, all the meat is locally produced where possible. Cattle are reared in Wales and poultry is slow grown in open ranges. Even better is that the owners support the paleo movement so we couldn’t wait to receive our first order.

Paleo Nutrition Wales offer a variety of meat packs and individual items. They also have a few paleo snacks (Smoked West Wales Coracle anyone?) and you can make up your own custom boxes. We went for their Hunter Gatherer box which included:

  • 6 x Chicken fillets
  • 4 x Welsh rump steaks
  • 2 x Steak mince
  • 2 x Welsh sirloin steak
  • 2 x Thick cut extra lean bacon
  • 1 x Diced turkey breast

This cost £60 plus £4.50 for postage. Delivery was quick and it arrived boxed and wrapped in some hi-tech looking freeze packaging.

And here’s the contents in all their meaty glory. Everything was a decent sized cut or portion.

Taste Test

Of course the most important part is how the meat tasted. We both really enjoyed everything that came in the pack but the sirloin steak and beef mince in particular were excellent. The thick sliced bacon was delicious and the turkey was so much better than the stuff sold at supermarkets. For the quality of the meat we think the pack was great value. I would maybe like slightly bigger packs of mince (they were 400g) as we really enjoyed it, but overall we were very happy with the size of everything.

Here’s some snaps of a few meals we made with the Paleo Nutrition Wales pack. The steak was awesome!

Thumbs Up

We would thoroughly recommend Paleo Nutrition Wales to anybody looking for a convenient supplier of grass-fed beef and other quality meats. They have a great variety of products and some good value boxes. We will definitely be buying again. I would maybe add the Primal Poultry Pack which looks good value at £32.50 for 20 chicken breasts.

Cost: Meat packs from £32.50 upwards. You can buy individual items and you can also make your own custom boxes. Delivery is £4.50 for standard orders, free over £100.

Verdict: Great tasting, grass-fed beef. We loved our Hunter Gatherer pack. The website is slick and service was top-notch.

  1. I had a look at these guys. It seems good at first glance, but reading deeper, I’m not too confident about their sourcing policies, especially for their poultry:

    http://www.paleowales.co.uk/our-produce
“Our Chicken is sourced from the “Premier” producer in the EU, where the highest standards of welfare and BIO-Security are enshrined into the production process.”

For me, simply stating EU, is not enough for full traceability or trust. Especially with the current EU meat crises.

Surprised also that they don’t sell offal.

They are certainly worth looking into though.

  2. Hi Wlad. It may be worth emailing them to get a bit more info. We were impressed with their food but I agree it’s good to know exactly where and who is raising the animals and in what exact conditions.
