These look like a delicious treat, will be giving them a try sometime soon.
Paleo Bounty Bars
A paleo treat to satisfy your sweet tooth. Tastes as good as a Bounty bar but without the additives. This is one of our favourites!
Ingredients
Makes 6-8 bars
- 100g dark chocolate (85% or higher)
- 6 tbsp coconut oil
- 3 tbsp dessicated coconut
- drop of vanilla extract
- you will also need baking cases.
Instructions
Break up dark chocolate into pieces, place in a saucepan and melt over a medium heat.
Spoon a thin layer of melted chocolate into each of the baking cases. Make sure the inner sides of the cases are covered with chocolate in order to coat the coconut mixture.
Place the cases in the fridge for 10-15 mins to set the chocolate.
Mix the coconut oil, dessicated coconut and vanilla extract together in a separate bowl.
Take the cases out of the fridge and spoon in the coconut mixture on top of the layer of chocolate in each case.
Place in the fridge to set for 10-15 mins.
Once set, take out of the fridge and drizzle over the rest of the melted chocolate into each case. Make sure the chocolate fills any gaps at the sides.
Place in the fridge again to set for 10-15 mins.
You can keep these treats in the fridge until you are ready to eat one. Enjoy!

Good god these look awesome, will give these a go at the weekend for sure. Bounty bars are like my rare non paleo treat but they are loaded with sugar and other crap so these look like a great, clean treat for the weekend.

Oh yum! I just made something similar today, only with almond butter and again with peanut butter. Love the coconut idea though! Yours look beautiful.

I’m going to make myself some of these tonight!!

The best ideas are always so simple. I really have missed my Bounty bar, and can’t wait to give these a go!

I almost cried when I read this, why have I not thought about doing this before?
So simple and yet so brilliant at the same time.
Thank you!

I made these the other week, and they turned out delicious. I used Lindt 90% which makes them really nice and bitter. I only eat half a “bar” at time, but thats enough of a chocolate hit to satisfy my cravings. Will be making them again for sure!

What is a baking case?

They look fabulous. I adore coconut and can’t think of a better treat. I’ve never been tempted to try out any paleo-friendly sweet recipes until now.

Sound lovely, but how much vanilla extract?
-
Is your coconut oil firm and steady as well?
Because I had a hard time mixing the ingredients together.I accidentally put to much vanilla in aswell, so I guess thats where my problem is.

What chocolate do you use Ellie? I’ve just got some Green & Black’s Organic 85% dark chocolate. Might make them tomorrow. I LOVE BOUNTY’s! So I can’t wait to make and try this.

Yes these really are very tasty and with so few ingredients, it’s easy to rustle up. Let me know how you get on with them.

Oh great, do try them out. They are my favourite treat and knowing exactly what goes in them makes it even better. Like you say, no added rubbish so all good with me.

Thanks Sarah, I love experimenting with different ingredients. Almond butter sounds good to try with this recipe.

Hey Stuart, so glad you enjoyed them. I also use Lindt 90% every time I make them. And totally agree that half of one is enough for any sweet tooth
What is a baking case?
It’s the same case that you would use for cupcakes/muffins.

Thanks Lesley. They taste as good as they look too

Oh yes, I should probably be more specific. I put in just a drop so about 1/4 teaspoon

I use the coconut oil at room temp so easy to mix. If yours is a bit harder maybe gently heat it in order to soften it.
